In typical research procedure, there is a trail of paper documents that take the researcher back in time. However, it has plenty of limits when one runs out of documents from long ago.
There is a Coup Fourré (from the card game Milles Bornes) in the world of ancestral research and that is a DNA test. The results from an ancestral DNA test will reveal one’s country or area of origin. It is really quite enlightening and interesting. It can also be somewhat intimidating as you might learn things about your past that come as a ‘shock’! The two different DNA tests that I have taken have established connections to Scotland that I never would have guessed were so.
To be upfront about it, the tests have provided me with an uncanny sense of ‘who I am’!
