It was a thoughtful and loving gesture.

James Kerr, my 3X great grand uncle, was born in London, England in 1792. He was a ‘turner’ by trade and sadly passed away as a young man, just 22 years old. We don’t know what he died from but he must have realized his time was short. On July 18 1814, James wrote his Last Will and Testament. To his credit, James had a reasonable amount of money for a young man and in a most thoughtful manner bequeathed it among his family. To his brothers John and Daniel, he left 50 pounds each and in a most loving move, he left his mother Diana 25 pounds and all of his household.

The image for todays blog is the Will of James Kerr.

We must reflect for a moment at the depth of James’ character that was required to leave a death benefit to his mother. It really speaks to the fine quality man that James surely was.
