This image gives us a story from examining the contents! We go back in time to North Grimston, Yorkshire in 1751 when we see William Spaven (my 6th great grandfather) had his daughter Elizabeth baptized on September 10th. Then when we look two lines down in the entries, misfortune happened. His wife Mary (Dale) was buried on the same day! One can easily arrive at the conclusion where Mary died from some level of childbirth complications. Such was the reality of hardships back in their era and surely William’s family and community rallied around him to help.
