To me, researching the family is fun and has its own entertainment built in! I’m always trying to discover new connections. A number of years ago as I probed my Angel – Ingle branch, I made an incredible find. The parish records of Colne, Lancashire revealed that my Ingles ancestors married into the Townley family! At Colne, the Townley’s were very influential and as you see in the diagram had a descendant named ‘George Washington’. The diagram shows red arrows with Mary Townley and her brother Lawrence Townley, who were both born at Colne. Needless to say, learning of a connection to a significant historical figure as ‘George Washington’ has been a satisfying discovery! In reality, many people in life have such connections but have never made any attempt to prove such a thing.
