On November 4 1882, my grandfather, Leonard Hunt made the newspaper in his home town of Leyton, Essex, England. At the time, he was a lad of 7 years old and was being recognised and received an award for verbal reciting.
It was also notable that Mary Hunt, his sister, was also recognised for the same and duly awarded. One has to think these awards were a source of happiness in the Hunt household. Verbal reciting is a form of public-speaking which is a reality that has come forward in the family to the present day.
