The following reproduction image shows us something about the Patrick Barry family. Interestingly, this census is from 1809, which was very early in the census procedure. In England, it was 1841 until a national census had such useful details as we see in Upper Canada in 1809!
These details are ‘sweet’ for it gives a view of the Patrick Barry family dynamics. Of particular interest was the mention of ‘Ephraim Barry’ as a youthful person, compared to the other members. His estimated birth was in 1795, so in 1809 he was a teenager. Circa 1815, Ephraim was a private in the Leeds Militia in the War of 1812. His Regiment was stationed at Kingston, Upper Canada and guarded Fort Henry.
