My 2X great grandfather, Thomas Hunt was a bricklayer who lived at Ashford, Kent, England. Several events in his life had taken him to some different locations in southern England. He and his wife Mary (Akhurst) successfully raised their family of six children and for their era, it was a good accomplishment.
Thomas passed away on October 24 1867 and as we see in the image, he was an ‘Odd Fellow’ member of the Minerva Lodge in Ashford, Kent. Historically in England it was an exception for a person to have had a newspaper account of their passing. Such a reality for Thomas Hunt was a ‘sweet’ discovery!
