Many years ago, my dad’s cousin, Everett Larson spoke to me at length about my great grandfather, Even Evenson. At some time, Everett had lived at the Evenson farm and was able to see his grandfather first hand. Everett shared many details about Even and it became clear he was industrious and very self reliant. He devised and manufactured many useful items around the farm. Even was ‘musical’ as he played the violin and pump organ. He even ‘made’ his own bass fiddle, which was a huge accomplishment. Further to his abilities was a knowledge of ‘chemistry’ as Even made his own wine (and home brew)!
Great grandfather’s stern work ethic served him well as he had a lovely homestead for his efforts.
