Typically, one’s maternal side presents a few unique challenges in research. The problem is that the female’s ancestor tend to have their surname dissappear when they get married. There isn’t really a solution other than combing through as many records as possible to trace that surname that seems gone. My mother’s lineage has been a challenge since it was the English surname ‘Hunt’, which is very popular. However, owing to three consecutive generations that had the given name ‘Nathaniel’ made this line researchable back into the 1500’s in Kent county, England.
