My 5th great grandmother was Ann Tranmer of Foxholes, Yorkshire. She was born in 1719 to William Tranmer and his wife Ann Vasey and was a younger sister to three brothers. Little did Ann know just how harsh life was to be for her. By the summer of 1732, our Ann was the last family member left as all others had died! Ann was just 13 when this happened but in January 1735, she married Richard Chester, a yeoman of Hutton Busel, Yorkshire. Richard was close to 25 years Ann’s senior and thankfully for Ann’s sake it seemed their marriage worked well at Hutton Buscel. Ann was widowed in 1769 and re-married in 1777 and eventually she was buried at Hutton Buscel in 1795. So, all things considered, life turned out good for her.
