The document is part of the court transcript of our Baker ancestor, Joseph Gillet. He was in the courtroom as the ‘prosecutor’ against a former employee! This ‘Mr. Moore’ had feloniously entered into his house and stole cigars and keys.
There’s another perk in this information as it gave a small description of Joeph Gillet as it stated he was a ‘heavy man’. This implied that he was ‘big’ and perhaps a bit tall. An interesting side effect of being a Baker back then was upper body strength and development. Back then, there was no automation to mix and knead dough, so it had to be done by hand. The next time you see fresh bread or buns, be sure to remember Joseph Gillet.
