The little ancestral chart highlights a man named Thomas Hinckley, who was my 8X great grandfather from Harrietsham, Kent. Thomas had a brother named ‘Samuel Hinckley’ who left Kent in the 1630’s and settled in Colonial America. Samuel was a prominent man and became noted for having some famous people descend from him. Former Mormon Prophet Gordon B Hinckley was one but not quite so famous. Two other descendants of Samuel were quite famous and notable, being Barrack Obama and George Bush, who are both past Presidents of the United States.
So, the American political stripes of every colour are covered! Historically, my branch of the family remained in Kent.
