In the run of year, there are two days in which I spend time reflecting about my life and times. One is when the new year arrives and the second is my birthday. So, I’ll let you conclude the significance of today in my world.
Since I’ve been actively researching my family, it has become very apparent to me that I’m on a mission. Strangely, it wasn’t like I was adopted, and on a trek to discover ‘who’ I am and where I’m from. No, I was from a loving caring home with fine principled siblings and parents. In fact, that was the reality of my ancestors as they too were upstanding people of principle! I really can’t explain what drives me so much to find details of the past but what I do know is that it’s a ride I don’t want to stop any time soon. It seems like life is a big field of ‘stones’ and all one has to do is venture forward and start turning them over! There’s no telling or predicting what one will find but I guarantee it will be a ‘rush’!
Frequently, I watch shows where people are desperately searching for information about their family. Watching their anxiety about the reality of their family story drives home to me just how fortunate that I am.
So, I feel very ‘blessed’ to have discovered so many things as I have. The next time of reflection will be the new year and who knows what will surface by then.
