Next to old documents, few things are more valuable to the researcher than a ‘picture’. As we all know, the beauty of pictures is that moment in time that is captured. The picture is that unmistakable evidence of an event that typically has some significance.
In my image with todays blog, the pictures have very special significance in two ways. The large picture represents the painting skill of my sister with water colours. Her subjects were buildings of importance to our family long ago. Then the photographs are of my great grandparents and also the marriage certificate of my grandparents. The most honourable gesture is that all of these pictures are framed with material that was salvaged from the old Angell homestead house west of Rose Valley, Saskatchewan.
These frames are the ‘tangible past’.
