George Victor Hunt was mum’s brother and is the subject of today’s blog. He passed away on September 26 1989, much to the sorrow of his friends and family.
Uncle Vic had a heart of gold and endeared himself to everybody who knew him. It was quite a surprise in family research, when I learned that he came to Canada from England, aged16, as a ‘Home Child’! Typically, such were ‘street children’ but that didn’t apply to Uncle Vic.
Those who knew him will remember him as a generous, kind, thoughtful soul who came to Saskatchewan from BC always bearing fruit to share with those he visited. Vic worked in logging camps as a first aid man and always had the best interests of others in mind. One of his little quirks was to show up unannounced and predictably at ‘mealtime’! LOL
There are plenty more stories that I can share about Uncle Vic but that’s a blog for another day. Rest in Peace, Dear Uncle.
