Typically, when the word ‘Quaker’ is mentioned, it conjures up a vision of the man on the oats package! Back in history the Quakers were early promoters of equality for women and minority groups of people. My ancestor Richard Graham adhered to the Quaker following at his London home in the late 1600’s and early 1700’s.
The image for this blog is of Richards 1708 passing and it was very interesting to learn that the Quaker ‘searchers’ reported that Richard died of consumption, which was a brutal way to die as one’s lungs deteriorated. Long may Richard’s memory endure.
