On March 18 1815 my 5X great grandfather, John Albright was responsible for an important document. The transcription of it confirmed his branch of the family history. John was a private in the third Regiment of the York Militia in the War of 1812. As a side benefit for his service, John applied for land in Pickering Township, Upper Canada (Ontario). The document revealed that John was the son of a United Empire Loyalist who came to New Brunswick in 1783. Then seven years ago <>1808, he came to Upper Canada where he was a yeoman in Pickering County. John’s application spelled out some useful facts in our family history!
