The family stuck together in life and death!

ward Our Family & Me Team

England is a country where the geographic area was small and the population was large. When people died there was always a concern about enough burial space. In recent times, cremation and scattering of ashes have been a solution.

In 1859 my ancestor Joseph Gillet and his wife Mary bought a burial plot, which much of the family ended up using through the years. The plot was 20 feet deep and had to be re-opened with every use but as the document shows, it accommodated many people! The tally shows the grave holds the remains of 14 people. To the family historian, it is a gold nugget.
