Now and then in research, it’s possible to discover more than one branch from the same person/couple. This happened in my lineage where the ‘Hodges and Hope’ branches, both had their origins from Ann Hinckley 1606 – 1668. Her first husband was Walter Hodges, who left her as a young widow. Ann’s second husband was John Hope and they had a son ‘Edward’. Many years later, Samuel Hodges, a descendant of Walter Hodges, married Mary Holmes alias Hope (from John Hope) in 1730.
An interesting sidebar here, Ann Hinckley, the daughter of Robert Hinckley had a brother named Samuel. This Samuel made significant contributions to Colonial America as his descendants include former presidents Barrack Obama and George Bush senior and junior.
