The image associated with todays blog is from a 1786 London Trade and Commerce directory. For such a modest image, it told many things about William Kerr, my 4X great grandfather. It gave their home address ’14 King Street Tower Hill, London’ as well as the fact that they ran a factory producing scotch lawn textiles. It is a rare find in research to glean so many useful details from one little document.
Another interesting perk was that their home overlooked the ‘Tower of London’ one of the most iconic London locations. Just imagine looking out upon ‘history’ every day.
