Yesterdays blog about finding so much information on a baptismal entry has inspired todays blog. My 10X great grandfather was Valentine Austen from Adisham, Kent in southern England. His burial was entered in the Adisham Parish records for December 21 1616. The information included his occupation, a Yeoman and his wife’s name ‘Margaret Solly’. Having the details of his occupation and spouse, back in 1616, is virtually unheard of! But this gets better, the information also included all of his 10 children Henry, Robert, Richard, Thomas, Valentine, Ann, Benet, Ales, Elizabeth and Margaret. Looking back, finding this document was like Christmas morning! One can’t explain ‘why’ this document had so much detail but it sure was a treat to find.
