An aspect of my family history suggested that mum (Betty Hunt) grew up not knowing her father. This document is the 1921 census of England and clearly states that mum’s father was on the scene as of 1921. The presumption here is that grandpa Hunt was out of the household scene in the following months. This means that mum wasn’t old enough to remember her father. As I understand the chain of events in mum’s life, she was only told that her father had been ‘lost at sea’!
Presumably, grandpa never came home from work one day and the details of such were perhaps ‘hazy’. We don’t know what really happened or what grandma understood to be reality.
